Join us this New Years' Day as we commemorate two past generations, the first longhunters who settled the Valley in the late 1700's and Alvin York the "Last of the Longhunters." We will be physically following in their footsteps by hiking to the "Yellow Doors" overlook where early settlers surveyed their newfound home, and where Alvin went to reflect in times of trial.
We will meet at the Pogue Creek Canyon State Natural Area off Highway 154 at 9:00 CST and make our way to the trailhead.
This hike will be strenuous, and everyone is asked to prepare accordingly. Wear sturdy boots, and bring water and provisions for several hours on the trail.
This hike is free, but if interested please sign up on our website at: https://reserve.tnstateparks.com/register/first-day-hike--first--last-of...
